A Gift

The sun rises and so does my hope 

The clouds stretch out and so does my heart

Cold and crisp is the air and so my heart sharp and alert

I feel you by my side waiting and watching

Ready for my call I wait for your answer

Stride after stride I cut through the wind

With you as my shield I guarded against rain

From above it comes down and encourages me to hide

With you as my shield I continue to stride

From straight ahead you guard me from knives

The words that come and try to tear my skin

Piece my soul and hope for my fall

With you as my shield you deflect those blades 

You wrap me in love over all the terrain

Through the hills and the valleys

Through the shade and the sun

You walk out before me paving paths I should run

To the left and the right I see a different scene

Some lost some hurt surrounded in pain 

You help me reach out you help us each day

Some will now see 

Some will see later

Others refuse though love is right there

I pray for you love 

And that you forgive

I pray for the lost

And that you're love will find them

For the day that's laid out

Is beautiful indeed

It's all your creation

A gift that's for me

A gift that's for them

A gift you keep giving 

Despite all the sin

You wash it away and make us anew

For your love for us knows no boundaries
